  • About us

    Handsworth Methodist Church is an active church within its local community and is located on the main road in the middle of the Handsworth area of Sheffield. It has an established history of serving the needs of its local community and this has shaped our vision of caring for the whole person – social, physical and spiritual.

    fairtrade mark

     In March 2006 the church registered to become a FAIRTRADE church. Each year during the Fairtrade fortnight we hold a service celebrating the work and aspirations that fairtrade seeks to bring to the world and we continue to promote Fairtrade goods at all our events.

    Each year the congregation select a charity to support for their ‘HARVEST PROJECT’ – a list of the charities which have been supported is here.

    Circuit.

    The Church is one of the 7 churches that make up the Sheffield East Methodist Circuit, which in turn, is part of the Sheffield District of the Methodist Church.

    Our Calling.

    The calling of the Methodist Church is to respond to the gospel of God’s love in Christ and to live out its discipline in worship and mission. We express this through the 4 statements set out in the ‘Our Calling’ document of the Methodist Church, our priorities are;

    WORSHIP - the Church exists to increase awareness of God’s presence and to celebrate God’s love.

    LEARNING & CARING – the Church exists to help people to grow and learn as Christians, through mutual support and care

    SERVICE - the Church exists to be a good neighbour to people in need and to challenge injustice.

    EVANGELISM - The Church exists to make more followers of Jesus Christ.
